HI-Pembroke leaders receive recognition from NC Legislature

On October 10, 2009, Roger and Sandy Preston delivered a Letter of Acknowledgement and Congratulation to the Pembroke Hostel in honor of HI-USA's 75th anniversary year.   Ronnie Sutton, NC House of Representatives, mailed the letter to Sandy as Council President.  Hostel administrator Ron Sanders and hostel managers Diane and Chuck Zhang are pictured receiving the letter.   They chose the site of an important railroad crossing near the HI-Pembroke Hostel for the picture.   According to Ron Sanders, more trains cross here daily than any other place in NC.

HI-Pembroke Open Hostel Day....August 23, 2009
75 people from Mexico, Holland, Sweden, Germany, Korea, France , China and the US found HI-Pembroke on August 23.  They shared music, an HI 75th anniversary cake, toured the hostel, and won prizes!  They saw videos about hostelling and toured the only HI hostel in North Carolina.  Many were UNC-P students.  Some belong to the Lumbee tribe.
