 January 9, 2010Alex Irwin Koji, owner and operator of Blue Ridge Hostel in Galax, VA dies after offering hospitality to international guests for more than 22 years 
 August 2009Open Hostel Day at HI-Pembroke
 June 5,6,7, 2009More than 50 guests attend a three day exploration in Galax, Virginia ... including attending a live radio broadcast, cycling 50 miles on the Parkway, visiting Glenwood United Methodist Church... culminating in a reception at the Rex Theater to say "Thank you, Alex and Lois Koji" for 22 years of Blue Ridge hospitality.

MEET-UP with

friends of hostelling in

Charlotte, NC

Council Volunteers, Lynne Bresler, Julie Beck and Diane Trowbridge presented World Travel 101 and Women Traveling Solo workshops in Goldsboro, Durham and Chapel Hill.
 
HI-NC Board of Directors met with Friends of Hostelling at Hornets Nest Girl Scout Center, 7007 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 at NOON.   Roger and Sandy Preston's slide show about their recent China tour highlighted friendships that will endure.  Lynn Wilson's perspective on traveling to Alaska..."the quirks were perks!"

HI-NC meets with

NC Congressional staff

Sandy Preston and Judye Adkins represented HI-NC at the HI-USA National Council Meeting.  On Day One they visited with legislative staff of Senator Dole, Senator Burr, Congressman Bob Etheridge and Congresswoman Sue Myrick to request their support for hostelling postage stamp.   

 

NCM Day Two was invested in workshops to help with planning for HI-USA's 75th anniversary celebration.
